World Braille Day

Today is 4th January, it is the World Braille Day.

Blind people can see through braille, with it they can read, write and continue their education to escape ignorance and darkness.

Each year, We celebrate the occasion through educational lectures in the classroom and inclusive activities.

In the previous year, I conducted an awareness-raising activity on the Braille language through an explanatory method for the Braille letter and its points, where the students formed their names in braille.

Together we break down barriers to forming a conscious inclusive society.

We ask ِAllah to remove the epidemic from us, so that we revive such occasions.

See the video for Arabic Braille letters, and the pictures of previous year activity.

I will share with you some of my work, using the applications that I learned from EDUC 561 course. It is very helpful in Online Learning.

First, my WebQuest that I create it with my classmates using Google Site. You will find on it also, a Padlet, GoFormative, Google Form, that I create by myself. Previously, I thought create like this things were difficult, but today I am proud of myself because I can do them, thanks to my doctor who taught me and my colleagues this.

Also, I collaborated with my colleagues to accomplish this presentation, using Google Slide that let us works together online, without being in same place and using same Laptop. My part was making a Mentimeter to evaluate the students, It was a good experience in online group working.

TPACK

From EDUC 561, that you can refer to my first post to know more about it, I learned a new educational thing.

This thing is TPACK, that is a symbol for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge.

Its goal is to reach more effective education by combining technological knowledge with content knowledge and educational knowledge.

Its the twenty-first century. Our goal should be to obtain more effective education and develop the skills of our students in line with the requirements of this time. So, it is TPACK time.

These links and pictures are to explain it more to you.

Tactile map

Yes they can ! ðŸ’ª

My visually impaired students made a tactile map.

They use different materials like pasta, lentils, chickpeas, rice, buttons, sponge, cotton, colored salt and glue. They used playdough to set boundaries among continents of the world.

Yes, they do it! And they do a key for the map 😉

Our most important goal is to empower them to become effective people in society, and to let education be the light of their lives.

Share with us, your opinion about our tactile map.

Salt Dough and colored salt

With the aim of developing the skills of blind and low vision students in UNRWA schools/ Tyre area:

Our students made a salt dough using flour, salt, and water

They made different shapes of salt dough using stamps.

Also, they enjoyed coloring the salt using colored chalk.

They arranged the colored salt in a small bowl.

Activities like this teach them to cooperate and stimulate

their abilities to develop it.

Card For Mom

On Mother's day, also blind students can do cards for them.

My students do that, first they wrote it using Braille.

Then use 3D stickers and colored cartoons to design it as what they like,

After that, I translate the braille words into Arabic to let his mother understand it.

They enjoy a lot, they are proud of themselves, feel equally with their friends.

The best thing is their smile when they finish it and give it to their mothers.
